7 Mar – Robert Pattinson is proving himself worthy of being the Caped Crusader as it was revealed that Matt Reeves' "The Batman" has collected a whopping US$128.5 million in its US box office opening weekend. This marks the best opening weekend for a movie in the year 2022 by a landslide. At the same time, the film also became only the second pandemic era movie to cross the US$100 million mark in a single weekend, second only to Marvel's "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which made US$260 million when it premiered last December.
Adding the international box office takings, the movie has now made US$248.5 million in its first three days globally. Other feats that the film has reached include being the number one film in 73 of the 74 territories it has opened in, as well as the biggest global IMAX weekend of 2022 and the second biggest since December 2019. And it has yet to screen in China and Japan. The movie is currently playing in cinemas.
