14 Feb - Paramount Pictures is set to produce a movie about Bob Marley and has found the actor worthy enough to play the reggae legend.
As reported on Deadline, the upcoming movie, written by Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers and Terence Winter, will be helmed by Reinaldo Marcus Green of "King Richard" fame. It is noted that Green's aforementioned movie has been nominated in six categories at the upcoming 2022 Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
Cedella Marley, who is Bob Marley's daughter and CEO of the Marley estate, is producing the said film, alongside brother David aka Ziggy Marley and their mother Rita Marley.
The upcoming movie will star rising British actor and "The OA" star Kingsley Ben-Adir, who is no stranger to portraying real-life people, having played Malcolm X in Regina King's "One Night in Miami" and President Barack Obama in Showtime miniseries, "The Comey Rule".
He is also set to play a villain in Marvel's "Secret Invasion".
Bob Marley had a remarkable career despite his short 36 years of life. The reggae legend and music icon, who died following a battle with cancer in 1981, was certified 15x platinum in the US through his album, "Legend", with songs "One Love," "No Woman, No Cry," "Could You Be Loved," "Buffalo Soldier," "Jammin'" and "Redemption Song" becoming evergreen hits.
