1 Apr – Bruce Willis' family has announced that the actor is retiring from the film industry due to his health issues.

In a statement that was shared on social media by each member of the Willis family, including ex-wife Demi Moore, they stated that the actor has been diagnosed with aphasia, a disorder that "results from damage to portions of the brain that are responsible for language."

"As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him. This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him."

"As Bruce always says, "Live it up" and together we plan to do just that. Love, Emma, Demi, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, & Evelyn," the family added.

The news brought sadness to both fans and celebrities alike. M. Night Shyamalan, who worked with Willis on several movies including "The Sixth Sense" and "Glass", tweeted, "All my love and respect to my big brother Bruce Willis. I know his wonderful family is surrounding him with support and strength. He will always be that hero on that poster on my wall as a kid."

Producer Randall Emmett expressed, "Bruce and I have worked on over 20 films together. He is a terrific actor and legendary action star, an incredible father, and a close friend. I fully support Bruce and his family during this challenging time and admire him for his courage in battling this incredibly difficult medical condition. Bruce will always be part of our family."

The actor has been starring in a variety of direct-to-video films for the past decade, with his last theatrical release being 2021's "Midnight in the Switchgrass". He also has several more projects that have been completed or in post-production, including "Paradise City", which co-stars John Travolta.
