29 Jun - Johnny Depp's rep has recently dismissed rumours that the actor may return as Jack Sparrow in future "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies. Earlier this week, it was reported that Disney was looking to get the actor to return to the franchise; a deal that supposedly will cost the studio more than USD 300 million. Sources claimed that Disney was very interested in patching things up with Depp, after he won his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard earlier this month. However, when asked about the rumour, Depp's camp had a simple response: "This is made up."
It is noted that Depp had already expressed disinterest in playing Captain Jack Sparrow again during the said trial, after the studio fired him following the allegations of abuse made by ex-wife Heard. Heard's lawyer Ben Rottenborn asked, "The fact is, Mr. Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film? Correct?" during cross-examination, to which Depp said: "That is true, Mr. Rottenborn."
