22 Jun – More than a decade since the last "Don" movie, it was reported that Farhan Akhtar has started work on the script for the third instalment. According to Pinkvilla, sources are saying that the director is now postponing his next project, "Jee Le Zara" (following scheduling conflict of its three lead actresses) to spend some time on the upcoming third film, which is said to be long time coming. "The team has been trying to crack and develop an idea for Don 3 for a while now, but the same has been put on the back burner time and again due to lack of novelty factor," said sources. "But the team has finally scummed upon an idea that's exciting and will take the franchise to the next level. Farhan has started writing the script, and will give narration to SRK once the screenplay is locked."
It was also reported that Farhan has also discussed the idea with dad Javed Akhtar, who created the first "Don" movie in 1978. The first Don starring Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra, which is the remake of the Amitabh Bachchan 1978 starrer, was released in 2006. The second film, co-produced by SRK, came five years later.
