12 Sep – Following rumours of his involvement, Marvel finally confirmed that the upcoming "Fantastic Four" movie will be helmed by director Matt Shakman. The announcement was made on 10 September during the big panel at Disney's D23 Expo, as Shakman replaces the previous choice – "Spider-Man" director, Jon Watts. Watts previously had to decline the project after directing three Tom Holland Spider-Man movies back-to-back. "I'm hopeful we'll work together again and I can't wait to see the amazing vision for Fantastic Four brought to life," he expressed.
Shakman is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having worked on "WandaVision" earlier. Rumours of Shakman directing "Fantastic Four" sparked a few weeks ago when he withdrew from directing "Star Trek 4". However, no news was revealed as to who will play the four main characters.
