17 Mar – Good news to fans who are nostalgic for the glorious period of Yasmin Ahmad's movies - the late filmmaker's masterpiece "Mukhsin" will be returning to the big screen for one day!

The film, or specifically the 4K digitally restored version, will be screened for free for the public at GSC Mid Valley on 26 March 2022 at 1.00pm and 3.15pm, though cinemagoers will be required to book their tickets prior via Eventbrite. Ticket bookings will start from 9.00am, 18 March onwards.

The restoration project of "Mukhsin" was carried out by The Japan Foundation Asia Center (JFAC) in an effort to restore Asian masterpieces, with kind cooperation of Primeworks Distribution Sdn. Bhd. and Imagica Lab in Japan under the supervision of Low Soon Keong, the Director of Photography of the film. The project was carried out using a 35 mm positive print and utilised globally acclaimed Japanese film restoration technology.

The restored version was premiered at the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) in October 2020 and a special screening for the cast and crew of the film was held on 11 March 2022 at Aurum Theatre, The Gardens Mall, graced by the attendance of Syafie Naswip, Sharifah Aryana, Amira Nasuha and Rozie Rashid.

"Mukhsin" had its world premiere at the 19th Tokyo International Film Festival back in 2006 with the presence of Yasmin and two of the main cast - Sharifah Aryana and Syafie Naswip. It tells a story of the blossoming romance between Orked (Aryana) and Mukhsin (Shafie) who visits her village to spend the school holidays.
