6 Sep – Indian film producer Prakash Jha recently expressed his belief that the failure of Aamir Khan's new movie, "Lal Singh Chaddha" could not be blamed upon the boycott campaign that the actor is facing by netizens.

The filmmaker, known for his socio-political films like "Damul", "Gangaajal" and "Apaharan", stated that the excuse of the boycott could not be used in this case as the movie has nothing special, unlike his previous films.

"If he had made "Dangal" or "Lagaan" and then the film hadn't done well, then we would have understood that it happened because of the boycott. But you have made such a film that majority of those who have seen it aren't praising it. I am yet to find someone who has said, 'Wow, what a film it was,'" he said.

Prakash, who has respect for the Bollywood star's past works, agreed that Aamir has worked hard and put everything into the movie, but that there is nothing unique about the movie, which itself is a remake of Tom Hanks' 1994 award-winning movie, "Forrest Gump".

The film, directed by Advait Chandan and written by Atul Kulkarni, co-stars Kareena Kapoor and Mona Singh. Aamir also produced the movie through Aamir Khan Productions.

Prior to the film's release, Aamir was facing a boycott campaign from netizens, who accused him of not liking his own country based on his past tweets.
