28 Feb – With Wu Jing's movies making billions of Renminbis left and right, it was no surprise when it was announced that the Chinese actor has been cast in the sequel of the American-Chinese production of "The Meg 2". The news was confirmed by sources close to the production, saying that Wu will be joining the said Jason Statham-starrer, "Meg 2: The Trench", to be directed by Ben Wheatley. On the other hand, Chinese co-star Li Bingbing, who played the female oceanographer Suyin in the original, is not returning to the franchise.
The film has already begun production at the end of January at the Warner Bros. Leavesden Studios outside London and will continue shooting at the site until May, before resuming to outdoor locations. Wu is already a box office wonder in China, with movies like "Wolf Warrior 2", "The Wandering Earth", "The Battle at Lake Changjin" and "The Battle at Lake Changjin II" making hundreds of millions at the box office.
