12 May – While some stars are denying their privilege amid the rising topic of nepotism in the film industry, Alia Bhatt is not one to reject the notion of having such privilege. In a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar Arabia, the "Gangubai Kathiawadi" star stated that she empathised with the whole conversation about the topic, being the daughter of film director Mahesh Bhatt and actor Soni Raszan. "I understand that it's possibly been easier for me to get through the door than maybe the next person. And I compare my dreams to another person's dreams: no dream is bigger or smaller, or more intense. Everybody's dreams are the same, everybody's desire is the same. So, I completely understand where that conversation comes from," she said.
The actress, who is married to Ranbir Kapoor, another member of the Bollywood royalty, also stated that she acknowledges the fact she was able to get a head start. "I acknowledge the fact that I do have that privilege, which is why I give 100 percent every day and I never take my work for granted. The only thing I can do is keep my head down and keep working," she added. Alia is soon to be seen in "Heart of Stone", her Hollywood debut movie that also stars Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. She is also the star of Karan Johar's upcoming movie, "Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" as well as Farhan Akhtar's "Jee Le Zaraa". Earlier, Mithun Chakraborty's son Mahaakshay dismissed the idea of nepotism, saying that his father never helped him in his career, and that there were times he was rejected in auditions.
