5 Oct – Lyca Productions has recently confirmed a previous rumour - that Amitabh Bachchan is set to reunite with Rajinikanth in the Tamil superstar's upcoming movie - currently untitled and using the moniker "Thalaivar 170".
Sharing the good news on X, the studio posted a photo of Big B and wrote, "Welcoming the Shahenshah of Indian Cinema. Mr. Amitabh Bachchan on board for [Thalaivar 170]. [The team] reaches new heights with the towering talent of the one and only [Amitabh Bachchan]."
It is noted that 80-year-old Amitabh has worked with the 72-year-old Tamil superstar back in 1991 through the family drama, "Hum". This means that this will be their second collaboration after 32 years. The upcoming movie, which will be directed by TJ Gnanavel of "Jai Bhim" fame, will also star Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier among others.
When met at the Chennai Airport on 3 October, Rajinikanth told the media, "I'm doing my 170th film with director TJ Gnanavel and Lyca, which will be a huge entertainer at the same time with a social message." Rajinikanth was last seen in "Jailer", directed by Nelson Dilipkumar of "Doctor" fame. The movie was a box office success when it was released in August this year. Aside from the new project, the cinematic icon will also be seen in a film helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth's movie, "Lal Salaam".
