26 Sep – South Indian filmmaker Atlee recently admitted that he got an offer to work in Hollywood after helming Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan". The director, who sat down for an interview with Film Companion recently, shared that the whole thing happened after he worked with six action directors from across the globe to help execute action sequences in the said movie, including Spiro Razatos, who helped with the stunts for "Fast & Furious 9", "Captain America: Civil War", and "Venom" among others.
"So, Spiro and other great director and technicians from Hollywood were at the same screening of Jawan. And Spiro said I have done action in this film. So, they asked who has done that scene where SRK is engulfed in flames. He said, 'It was the director's vision and he executed it.' So they immediately connected with me and told me, 'If you want to work in Hollywood, let us know'," he said.
Atlee added, "So it isn't a taste which is very desi. It is something superheroic and it has a very basic rhythm. I thought this idea only works for us but it is working globally." Meanwhile, "Jawan" has now become the highest-grossing Hindi language movie of all time in India, surpassing SRK's previous movie, "Pathaan". However, Aamir Khan's "Dangal" remains the highest grossing Indian movie of all time both in India and globally.
