25 Jan – In just six weeks, James Cameron continues to prove his box office prowess with "Avatar: The Way of Water" breaking USD 2 billion at the box office. The movie became the sixth movie in history, and the first in the pandemic era to cross the milestone, behind titles like "Avengers: Endgame" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". This is also Cameron's third movie to reach the number, behind "Titanic" in third spot at USD 2.18 billion and "Avatar" at the top spot with USD 2.92 billion.
"The Way of Water" has made USD 2.026 billion, generating USD 598 million at the US box office and USD 1.4 billion globally. There is also the possibility of the movie taking down the fourth and fifth-biggest movies, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ($2.07 billion) and "Avengers: Infinity War" ($2.04 billion) in the coming weeks.
