5 Oct – Beto Kusyairy recently expressed hope that Studio Kembara, the same company which produced the hit movie, "Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan", would explain the reason why they have decided to end their contract with the prequel director Areel Abu Bakar.

The actor, who starred in the 2022 movie, told the media that the company has to be more transparent about the decision in order to avoid negative perception towards the company.

"We have to be fair in this case, because we only hear one side of the story. They have to be clearer about the reason so that the person involved can understand," he said. "They should not remove someone without a solid reason."

Beto stated that he felt sorry for Areel over what had happened, as the director was let go after 90 percent of the filming had completed, as Areel previously claimed.

"But I don't know. I have already moved on from that. I am just sad because such a thing happened to our own friends in this industry. I can only pray for the best," he added.

Earlier this week, Studio Kembara's Shahruddin Mt Dali confirmed that Areel is no longer the director of the said movie, "Pendekar Awang", which stars actor Nadhir Nasar, though declined to elaborate on the cause.
