3 Mar – Chris Pine recently debunked all the speculations surrounding his relationship with his "Don't Worry, Darling" co-star Harry Styles, the latter who was previously accused of spitting on him during the film's premiere in Venice back in September last year. In a video that accompanied an Esquire profile, the actor praised the British singer for being a kind guy, adding, "He didn't spit on me. I think what he says, he leaned down and I think he said, 'it's just words, isn't it?' Because we had this little joke – because we're all jet lagged, we're all trying to answer these questions. And sometimes when you're doing these press things, your brain goes up befuddled and started speaking gibberish and we had a joke." It is noted that several videos went viral earlier of Styles returning to his seat at the premiere and appearing to spit into Pine's hand, which was further fuelled by the coincidental reaction made by Pine, as he also looked down into his hand, before giving a weird smile.
As to another video of him supposedly making faces and staring at the wall while Styles spoke to the media during an interview, the actor stated that he was actually looking up at the ceiling and admiring the architecture. "It should be known that the press conferences in Venice are in one of the most gorgeous buildings I've ever seen and the ceilings are like blue with gold gilt. So, there's one of these [memes] where I'm looking up, and what I'm really thinking is, 'How can I do that to my ceiling?' That's what was going through my head." Nonetheless, the actor admitted that he had been entertained by the many internet memes, especially the one called "dissociating Chris Pine" that came out since then. "I enjoyed me on an important Zoom call watching my cat throw up on the sofa," he added.
