28 Jun – James Gunn has finally found the right man to play his version of Superman in Pennsylvanian actor, David Corenswet. Corenswet, who looks eerily like "Man of Steel" star, Henry Cavill, will be playing Clark Kent/Superman in the upcoming DC Studios' project, "Superman Legacy", after weeks of casting that has stars like Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney vying for the role. Meanwhile, the role of Lois Lane has been given to "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" star, Rachel Brosnahan, who bested other contenders that include Bridgerton's Phoebe Dynevor and "Sex Education" actress Emma Mackey.
Corenswet has a big task ahead of him, leading the new universe created by Gunn and his DC Studios' co-head Peter Safran. DC has not been doing so well throughout 2022 to 2023, with movies after movies tanking at the box office, from Dwayne Johnson's "Black Adam" barely surviving, and "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" as well as "The Flash" receiving lacklustre response in theatres. "Superman: Legacy" is tentatively scheduled to be released in July 2025.
