29 May – Malaysian filmmaker Dain Said recently won Best Director at the 8th Horrorant Film Festival Fright Nights, but even he had no idea that he was nominated.

The filmmaker, who won for "Harum Malam", stated that he only found out after the festival sent him an email about it.

"Even my producers were surprised. I didn't know when the movie was nominated. It was probably arranged by our sales agent in France," he said.

Dain admitted that he didn't announce his victory on social media since it was just a small-scale festival focusing on the horror genre.

"Coincidentally, "Tiger Stripes" won in Cannes at the same time, so I didn't want to insert myself into it. But I am happy and moved over the acknowledgement towards "Harum Malam"," he said.

Dain's win was also congratulated by FINAS on 28 May in a social media post that read, "FINAS would like to congratulate the achievement of local feature film 'Harum Malam' which has won Best Director award for Dain Said at the Horrorant International Film Festival Fright Nights (8), Greece. This film is the recipient of the funding under the Digital Content Fund (DKD) of FINAS."

The movie revolves around a teen named Iqbal, who has the ability to see the supernatural. It stars newcomer Idan Aedan, as well as big name stars like Bront Palarae, Remy Ishak, Nadiya Nissa, and Nabila Huda.
