6 Jan – Although he loved playing Drax the Destroyer in "Guardians of the Galaxy", Dave Bautista recently admitted that he is glad to finally move away from the character.

The actor, who rose to acting stardom following his retirement from professional wrestling through the Marvel movie, stated that he wanted to be known for more than playing Drax.

"It wasn't all pleasant. It was hard playing that role," said Bautista. "The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don't know if I want Drax to be my legacy - it's a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff."

Bautista stressed that he is not trying to be the "big glamorous movie star", but instead "a better actor".

"I want respect from my peers... It's about the experience, about knowing that I accomplished something."

Bautista has starred in many more movies since doing Marvel, including Rian Johnson's "Glass Onion", Zack Snyder's "Army of the Dead", and Denis Villenueve's "Dune" and its upcoming part two, saying that he is proud of the latter.

"If I could be a number one [on the callsheet] with Denis, I would do it for f***ing free. I think that's how I could find out how good I could be. He brings out the best in me. He sees me in a different light, sees the performer that I want to be. That might be how I solve the puzzle," he said.
