Denis Villeneuve wants to do "Dune: Part Three"

29 Aug - Denis Villeneuve has an enthusiasm for one more "Dune" movie before going on to other projects.

The filmmaker shared his plan recently in an interview with Empire, saying that he would love to adapt Frank Herbert's sci-fi work, "Dune Messiah" as movie number three if the studio would let him.

"If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream. Dune Messiah was written in reaction to the fact that people perceived Paul Atreides as a hero, which is not what [Herbert] wanted to do. My adaptation [of Dune] is closer to his idea that it's actually a warning," he said.

However, Villeneuve stated that he would stop at movie number three and go on to do other projects, saying that the books after "Dune Messiah" became more "esoteric".

Asked if he has done any work for a movie number three even though Warner Bros. hasn't said anything about a third film, he responded, "There are words on paper."

Earlier it was reported that "Dune: Part Two" has been pushed to a March 2024 release due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
