1 Nov – The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) recently announced that they now have a new Chief Executive Office, replacing Prof Dr Md Nasir Ibrahim.
In a statement released on its official social media account, the agency announced that Dato' Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib has been appointed the new CEO for two years, beginning 1 November 2023 until 31 October 2025.
"With a Degree in Computing from Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom, he started his career at the Multimedia Creative Division, Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and served as Managing Director at Base FX," the statement said.
"Based on his extensive expertise and experience in the creative industry, FINAS is confident that Dato' Azmir is able to shoulder and carry out the responsibility to drive the Malaysian film industry to a higher level."
Earlier, FINAS announced that Prof Dr Md Nasir Ibrahim's contract as CEO of the agency ended on 1 June and that the early termination was made as a restructuring measure for the body in order to bring change to the country's film industry.
