27 Dec – The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) has instructed Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) as the distributor of Indonesian horror film, "Sijjin", to retract and change the posters of the movie.

The order came after it was revealed that the official poster released earlier displayed the Throne Verse, of the "Ayatul Kursi" on a black cloth wrapped around a woman believed to be possessed.

FINAS CEO, Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib stated that they have discussed the issue with GSC after it was raised by some netizens who weren't comfortable with the posters that were released ahead of its opening.

"Sijjin" is the Indonesian adaptation of Turkish film, "Siccin"

The movie's display of the verse from the Quran on a black cloth that wraps a woman believed to be possessed is considered excessive by some, with others questioning the decision to promote the movie with a corpse surrounded by individuals wearing the female praying garments.

Directed by Hadrah Daeng Ratu and starring Anggika Bolsterli, Ibrahim Risyad and Messi Gusti, the Indonesian adaptation of the Turkish film tells the story of a woman who sends black magic to her cousin's wife in hopes to win his favour.
