"Gladiator" sequel to be released in 2024

7 Feb – The sequel to Ridley Scott's "Gladiator" will be released next year.

Paramount announced the news recently, saying that the movie, which will be the follow-up to Scott's Oscar-winning movie, will be hitting theatres on 22 November 2024, 24 years since the first one.

Earlier, it was reported that Paul Mescal was cast to play Lucius, son of Lucilla and nephew of Commodus, and that the movie will be revolving around the said character. Commodus was previously played by Joaquin Phoenix.

The original "Gladiator" grossed USD 460 million at the box office, and won five Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe.

It is noted that another movie which will be released near the same time as the sequel is Marvel's "Fantastic Four".
