28 Mar – James Gunn recently shared that the runtime for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" will be the longest of the trilogy.

The director and current DC Studios co-chief, who returned to Marvel previously to helm the movie, confirmed a fan's enquiry about the runtime, when asked if the movie would be running for nearly two and a half hours.

"It's around that long, although that's not yet exact," he tweeted. "And, I promise, not a second is wasted. There's no fat."

"It was necessary to experience the full arc for every major Guardians character, not only for this film, but for the trilogy (or, I should say, trilogy plus)," he added, clarifying in another post that the "trilogy plus" meant the Holiday Special, as well as the previous two "Avengers" movie.

When asked why the runtime was not official yet, Gunn stated that it is going to be around that duration, but that the length of the end credits is still being estimated.

The upcoming movie, which will be the last one of Gunn's GOTG movie, will be released on 5 May.
