28 Mar – The producer of the highest grossing Malaysian movie of all time, "Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan" recently confirmed that they are working on the prequel of the movie. Studio Kembara's Managing Director Abdul Rahmat Mt Dali, who was asked about the project recently, stated that the script for the prequel is in the works, though that is the most he would say about it. "We are still developing it. I am trying my best to not publicise the movie too much before it's finished. This is what is usually done by filmmakers in developed nations. They will not publicise the movie until it is completely done," he said. He added that they will only share more after production wraps up, and expressed hope that the movie will be completed for them to be able to release it at the end of 2023 or early 2024. In a previous interview, Abdul Rahman confirmed that the prequel will not have Adi Putra, Beto Kusyairy and the lots playing the lead, and that they will instead find new faces to portray the characters. The original 2022 movie, which was made with a budget of RM8 million, amassed a total of RM97 million at the box office.
