30 Oct – The family of Matthew Perry are thanking fans for the love and support that they have received following the tragic death of the actor. On 29 October, the Perry family issued a statement to media, writing, "We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend."
"You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love," the statement added.
The "Friends" star is survived by actor father, John Bennett Perry, journalist mum Suzanne Morrison, stepfather and Dateline correspondent Keith Morrison, and five siblings, Caitlin Morrison, Emily Morrison, Will Morrison, Madeline Morrison and Maria Perry. "Friends" co-creators Marta Kauffman & David Crane wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), "We will always cherish the joy, light, the blinding intelligence he brought to every moment – not just to his work, but in life as well... This truly is The One Where Our Hearts Are Broken." Fellow co-star Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice to Perry's Chandler in the sitcom, also took to Instagram to mourn the actor, writing, "What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry. The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared." Perry's co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Courteney Cox are yet to comment though Kudrow had been reported to be devastated.
