2 Mar – Following the previous controversy, it was revealed that the new local movie, "Pulau" had to cut 10 scenes in order to enable it to get a PG13 rating.

Speaking to the media about the development, producer Fred Chong stated that he originally removed six scenes before submitting the movie to the Film Censorship Board, but was told to cut another four as well.

"Initially, Pulau was to be screened in 70 cinemas through the Skim Wajib Tayang (Compulsory Screening Scheme), but the distributor managed to get 127 cinemas. However it was reduced to 124 after the movie is banned from one state," he added.

It is noted that the movie has been banned in Terengganu, and that the studio has already submitted an appeal for the state to cancel the ban.

Fred stated that he hopes that the movie will be able to surpass the previous record made by his company through "Nasi Lemak 2.0". The Namewee movie made RM 7 million at the box office.

Starring Alif Satar and Amelia Henderson, "Pulau" was slammed by netizens when it released its trailer earlier this year, following several explicit and suggestive scenes.

It also suffered from 17 cuts for the Brunei release, though will be shown in its entirety in Singapore.
