30 Jan – Shah Rukh Khan proves that he is still the king of Hindi movies, as his new movie, "Pathaan" continues to break record left and right since its release. The movie, which is SRK's first film in five years (he only appears as cameo in movies since 2019), grossed USD 39 million globally when it opened on 25 January, becoming the biggest opening title ever, as well as the fastest Hindi movie to cross USD 36 million worldwide. In addition, it is the first Hindi film to collect over that amount during the launch session, as revealed by producer Yash Raj Films.
"It is incredible that Pathaan has registered the biggest all-time opening in India and overseas..." the company's CEO Akshaye Widhani stated. "Pathaan has been blessed by Indians across the globe and what is happening with this film is unprecedented and historic." Co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, the film stars SRK as a spy who takes on the leader of a group of mercenaries. The movie previously sparked a controversy over its song "Besharam Rang" and music video that some alleged to have hurt religious sentiments.
