18 Apr – "The Super Mario Bros." continues to prove that it is the animated feature to be reckoned with, as it slowly nears the USD 1 billion mark. The movie, which is based on the hit Nintendo video game, has made USD 85 million in the US in its second week, while grossing USD 330 million internationally for the past two weeks, bringing a total of USD 678 million.
It is noted that Marvel's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" has only made USD 474.3 million since its release on 17 February, while "John Wick: Chapter 4" came close at USD 350 million and counting. The success also made it the number one video game adaptation, surpassing "Warcraft" at USD 439.4 million and "Pokémon: Detective Pikachu" at USD 449.8 million. The movie boasts a star-studded voice cast that include Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, and Charlie Day.
