Yay. .. we going on the big screen!

7 Dec – Three of Pixar's animated features finally will get the treatment they deserve - a chance on the big screen, that is.

According to an announcement by Disney, "Soul", "Luca", and "Turning Red" are the three Pixar movies which will finally have their day in cinemas, after going straight to Disney+ due to the pandemic prior.

"Soul", released in December 2020 and has Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey among the stars voicing the characters, revolves around a middle-school band teacher and aspiring musician who falls into a coma following an accident and seeks to reunite his separated soul and body in time for his big break as a jazz musician. The film will be released in cinemas on 12 January.

"Luca", a coming-of-age fantasy film about a young sea monster boy with the ability to change into a human form while on land, receives a lot of good words but still landed on Disney+ instead when it was released in June 2021. It will be released on 22 March.

Meanwhile, "Turning Red", an entry from Canadian Domee Shi about a girl who transforms into a giant red panda when she experiences strong emotions, was somehow sent straight to Disney+ despite cinemas beginning to actively open in 2022. The movie will be on the big screen beginning 9 February.

It is said that the three movies were selected to be released in cinemas due to the slowdown in family movies in 2024 as a result of the previous WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
