13 Feb – Aamir Khan was truly affected by the failure of his movie, "Laal Singh Chaddha" at the box office back in 2022. Ex-wife and fellow producer Kiran Rao shared as much during an interview to promote her new movie, "Laapataa Ladies", saying that it was disheartening for him and the whole team after they put in all the effort into the film. "It affected all of us because it was a project that had seen so many stages, it had done the Covid-19 rollercoaster. Laal Singh Chaddha had been a dream project for Aamir. He had been working on getting the rights for the script for a decade before we made it," she said.
However, Kiran said that she is happy that the movie found a second life when it was released on Netflix. The movie was a remake of the hit 1994 Hollywood film, "Forrest Gump" and stars Aamir in the lead. It also features Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh among others. While some didn't express interest in the film, the film's failure at the box office when it was released in August 2022 was largely due to a boycott after netizens found an old interview where Aamir revealed that Kiran suggested they move out of India because of growing intolerance in the country.
