6 Nov - The subject of a rare medical condition called Guillain-Barre syndrome was the reason why director Mohd Shah Faizul Ibrahim decided to helm the new movie, "Babah".

The filmmaker, who directed the movie produced by Nads Media Entertainment, revealed to the media that he felt close to the subject upon reading the script, which was written by the producer of the film.

"I felt like the writing was very personal and it convinced me that it will be a great film," he said.

It is noted that Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) is a rare but serious medical condition that occurs when the body's immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system.

While it can affect people of all ages, it is most common in adults and in males.

Meanwhile, Shah said that the most challenging part of directing the film was to ensure that the movie would look realistic and compatible with the timeline, seeing that it is told through the years of 1990 to 2020.

"We needed to make sure that the scenes featured are compatible with the year it happens, and that the props are accurate and appropriate," he added.

The movie, which premiered on 5 November, revolves around the father-daughter relationship between Isyak and Maya as they face the ups and downs of life. It stars Qi Razali, Cristina Suzanne, Kis Aisha, Sweet Qismina and Adam Lee. It will be released on 5 December.
