"Deadpool & Wolverine" dethroned "Joker" as highest R-rated film of all time

19 Aug - Shawn Levy has now succeeded in surpassing Todd Phillips at the box office, cementing "Deadpool & Wolverine" as the highest grossing R-rated film of all time.

The movie recently bested Phillip's "Joker" at the box office, earning a global tally of USD 1.086 billion, which is nearly ten million more than "Joker", which made USD 1.079 billion in 2019.

It is noted that these are the only two R-rated films that have crossed the 1 billion-mark.

Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" is now in the third place with USD 974.5 million.

"Deadpool & Wolverine" also sets the record as the first Marvel-Sony movie to have crossed the 1b mark since 2021's "Spider-Man: No Way Home".

"Joker" is relegated to number two now
