9 May - Disney will be limiting the number of Marvel superhero movies and series to be released annually, in response to the "superhero fatigue" that has deeply affected the studios involved.

This was confirmed by Disney CEO Bob Iger in a conference call, saying that they will only release "two or three good [Marvel] films" a year instead of four, and to cut the number of spinoffs series based on the franchise.

"We are stemmed from a desire in the past to increase volume. We are slowly going to decrease volume," he said, adding that he feels "overall" great about how things are shaping up.

He also stated that Disney will be balancing sequels with originals, though stated that there are a lot of value in Disney sequels. He mentioned the upcoming release of "Inside Out 2" and "Toy Story 5".

"Deadpool & Wolverine" will be the next Marvel movie to come out this summer.

It is noted that "The Marvels" was the latest Marvel product that did poorly when it came out in November last year, having only grossed USD 206.1 million at the box office despite its USD 219.million budget.
