2 Apr - "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" had a successful three-day opening internationally, as it made USD 114 million from 64 territories.

Meanwhile, it has also exceeded expectation in the US, amassing USD 80 million instead of the projected USD 55 million - bringing it to a global cume of USD 194 million.

The movie, which made its debut on 29 March, marks the second biggest debut for Warner Bros and Legendary's MonsterVerse following "Godzilla", which made USD 93 million in its opening back in 2014.

"Dune: Part Two" is currently the biggest 2024 movie
This also means the movie is now the third highest grossing film of the year, behind "Dune: Part Two" (USD 626 million) and "Kung Fu Panda 4" (currently at USD 347 million).

However, its USD 135 million budget meant that the movie will have to amass more ticket sales for it to be considered a box office success.
