2 Jul - Pixar can now breathe a sigh of relief as "Inside Out 2" continues to save the company by crossing the USD 1 billion mark.

The movie joined the billion-dollar club on 30 June as it made another USD 57.4 million in the US and USD 108 million internationally, bringing a global cume of USD 1.015 billion.

It is noted that the film has now surpassed "Dune: Part Two" to be the biggest 2024 movie yet. The Denis Villeneuve sci-fi film previously made USD 711.8 million at the box office.

Directed by Kelsey Mann, the sequel introduced the characters of Anxiety, Envy, Ennui and Embarrassment, which turned the other original emotions' world upside down.

Last month, Pixar's Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter admitted that the studio needed the win with "Inside Out 2", as they will have to think even more radically about how the studio is run if the movie doesn't do well following the lacklustre response to its recent entries like "Elemental" and "Lightyear".
