29 Jan – Intan Ladyana dismisses the notion that she was being self-absorbed when she decided to produce, direct, and star in her studio's horror movie, "Banglo Seksyen 12". The actress, who spoke to the media at the gala premiere of the movie, which is based on a novel of the same name, stated that the decision to don all three hats was due to her company Prisma Pictures' budget constraints.
"As a new production company with no experience in producing movies, we did the movie using a grant of RM500,00 from FINAS. At first, I didn't intend to star in the movie since I was also co-directing and producing. I had wanted to focus on just those two roles," she said.
However, said Intan, she was unable to secure a big-name actress to play the role of Dr. Saleha with the amount of fee that they were able to offer, which is why she decided to take on the role herself. "I did it because of budget constraints rather than wanting to do everything myself," she added. The upcoming movie, which is based on Hasrudi Jawawi's novel of the same name, has begun showing in cinemas on 25 January.
