11 Sep - The Japanese Film Festival 2024 (JFF) was officially launched at its Opening Ceremony with much fanfare last night at The Aurum Theatre, The Exchange TRX KL.

Organised annually by The Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the festival. The festival has come a long way from its humble and small beginnings back in 2004 to now being one of the most anticipated premier platform for Malaysians to enjoy the best of Japanese cinema annually, not just in the Klang Valley but also in Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

2024 also marks the 70th anniversary of one of Japan's most iconic kaiju movie that defined an entire genre - "Godzilla". In conjunction with this, the Academy Awards winner, "Godzilla Minus One" was screened during the Opening Ceremony to invited guests. It also marked the premiere of "Godzilla Minus One" in Malaysian cinemas. IMAX screenings of the movie will run exclusively at The Aurum, The Exchange TRX.
