8 Oct - Todd Phillips seemed to have not succeeded in his grand attempt at a musical it seems, as his "Joker" sequel, "Joker: Folie à Deux" failed to reach the expected USD 60 million US opening projection.

As reported on THR, the film debut at an estimated opening of USD 40 million, 20 million short of estimation, and far behind the USD 96.2 million opening for the original film that then went on to gross USD 1 billion worldwide.

Meanwhile, the movie did slightly better overseas, earning USD 81.1 million for its three-day opening, amassing a global cume of USD 121.1 million.

The film has been receiving a bad word of mouth since it premiered, with some even expressing surprise over the movie being a musical despite the fact that it has been revealed to be one since the start.

Others, on the other hand, criticised the film for its dull storyline despite the great performances from Joaquin Phoenix and his leading lady Lady Gaga and its stunning cinematography.
