5 Jul – Although "Maharaj" is where he made his acting debut, actor Junaid Khan revealed that he was actually in consideration to star in another movie... his own dad Aamir Khan's starrer, "Laal Singh Chaddha". Sharing this piece of information with Times of India recently, Junaid, who is Aamir's son with ex-wife Reena Dutta, stated that he actually auditioned for "Laal Singh Chaddha", which eventually tanked at the box office but saw a revival on Netflix.
"I had actually auditioned for Laal Singh Chaddha, which Papa has talked about publicly, but it didn't work out. Papa was very keen that I do the film," he said. However, despite not being cast in the movie, it was his audition for "Laal Singh Chaddha" that got him the part in "Maharaj". This was confirmed by director Siddharth P Malhotra, who said, "It was this audition that Adi (Aditya Chopra) and I saw, and what an audition that was! It was outstanding and if that clip can be released at some point in time... it would be great." Following "Maharaj", Junaid will be working next with Khushi Kapoor in the Hindi remake of the Tamil rom-com, "Love Today". The movie will be directed by Advait Chandan.
