11 Jan – Lucasfilm has finally found its first Star Wars movie project after four years, and that is by taking "The Mandalorian" out of the small screen to the big screen. The film, "The Mandalorian & Grogu", will be helmed by creator Jon Favreau and is expected to begin production later this year. Said the director, "I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting."
To be produced by Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm chief creative officer Dave Filoni along with Favreau, the movie is the first Star Wars project since the 2019's "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker". The Disney+ series, first launched in 2019, stars Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin/The Mandalorian, a lone bounty hunter operating in the Outer Rim who is hired to retrieve the child Grogu (also referred to by fans as Baby Yoda) only to go on the run to reunite him with his kind.
