19 Jun - Sir Ian McKellen was revealed to have been hospitalised after falling off stage mid-performance in London.

It was reported that the "Lord of the Rings" alum had the mishap while performing as John Falstaff in "Player Kings", a production of "Henry IV", at the Noël Coward theater in London.

Sources revealed that the 85-year-old cried out in pain following the fall, as crew members rushed out to help.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the theatre confirmed that McKellen is in good spirits and will make a speedy recovery in time for his next performance.

It is noted that the veteran star has been playing the character since April.
