30 Jan - It's official! Milly Alcock will be the new Supergirl for the James Gunn-Peter Safran DC Universe.

The actress, most known for her short but memorable performance in "House of the Dragon", bested Meg Donnelly in the final screen test that was held last week and will now play the role of Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin aka Supergirl.

The character is expected to appear either in "Superman: Legacy" or another show before going on her own solo movie.

Said Gunn, "Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I'm incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU. Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl."

Alcock joins the slew of actresses who have played the role in the past, including Helen Slater, Melissa Benoist, and Sasha Calle - the latter who appeared as the character in "The Flash".
