Optimus Prime has been arrested by the police?

11 Jun - Optimus Prime has recently been arrested by the police, but it looks like the Autobots have no need to assemble to rescue him.

This is because the Optimus Prime in question is not the same protagonist of the Transformers franchise, but an African-American man of the same name, who has stolen a vehicle last week.

Optimus Prime Blakely, 37, was charged with unauthorised use of a motor vehicle, and he can thank his parents for choosing a name that has now made him a global headline.

Netizens couldn't help but make a pun out of the case, with one writing, "Optimus Prime? More like Optimus Crime!"

Blakely was stopped by the police on 4 June after he was seen driving a vehicle that was reported stolen, though no description of the vehicle was given.

We hope that it is a red and blue semi-truck, because that would be another headline of its own!
