Fitness icon Richard Simmons passed away at 76

15 Jul - Fitness guru Richard Simmons has recently passed away.

The news was confirmed by a rep of Simmons, saying that the famed instructor died on 13 July at home in Belfast Drive, Los Angeles, though the cause of death is still being investigated.

Said brother Lenny Simmons, "I don't want people to be sad about my brother. I want them to remember him for the genuine joy and love he brought to people's lives."

"He truly cared about people. He called, wrote, and emailed thousands of people throughout his career to offer help. So don't be sad. Celebrate his life," he added.

Known for his trademark shorts and sparkly tank top, Simmons had his own syndicated TV exercise show in the 1980s, and sold millions of copies of his aerobic workout videos and DVD as well as books like "Richard Simmons' Never-Say-Diet".

He also guest starred in several TV shows including "Arrested Development", "CHiPs", and "General Hospital".
