22 Apr - Sofia Jane is elated to have won Best Actress at the 21st Asian Film Festival held in Rome, Italy.

The actress, who won the title for her performance in "Maryam Pagi ke Malam" helmed by Badrul Hisham Ismail, took to social media to share the good news.

She wrote, "Congratulations to the Maryam Pagi ke Malam production team at the Asian Film Festival yesterday in Rome, Italy. Indeed, artiste Omar Abdullah and Roslan Madun who played the role of Maryam's father and caregiver in this film played a very important role in the development of Maryam's character."

" I am very thankful and in gratitude," she said.

"Maryam Pagi ke Malam" also wins Most Original Film
Aside from Sofia, the movie also won Most Original Film at the ceremony.

"Maryam Pagi ke Malam" tells the story of a 50-year-old Maryam, a gallery owner from an aristocratic family who feels isolated all day, after her father (Omar Abdullah) refuses to consent for her to marry her younger foreign boyfriend from Sierra Leone.
