"The Experts" is not your typical heist film

21 May - Despite it being a heist movie, producer and scriptwriter Joel Soh revealed that the family elements of the new Astro Shaw movie, "The Experts" will differentiate it from films of the same genre.

Speaking to the media at the press conference to promote the new film, Soh said that he truly believes in the necessity of a movie to have dramatic moments that the audience can relate to oneself.

"Otherwise, the film will feel empty. So that is why in all our previous films, we would always try to find a theme to make the movie complete. The scenes and characters shown in this film are beyond realistic, so we need to balance that aspect, and insert common moral values like forgiveness and understanding and the consequences that can divide families" he said.

Soh, who also penned the blockbuster hit, "Polis Evo", also promised different kinds of action scenes in the movie.

"The Experts" features performances from great actors such as Aaron Aziz as Farid, who is the leader and eldest brother of the family, Syafiq Kyle (as Keyrol, the intelligence expert), Mimi Lana (as Emma, the master manipulation), Remy Ishak (as Amer, master disguiser) and Ray Dapdap (Lan, the master hacker).

The movie, which will be shown in 172 cinemas throughout Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei beginning 23 May, tells the story of a family of five siblings who have long given up robbery, but reunited after being threatened by the most dangerous gangster to do another big, high-risk heist.
