29 Mar – "Titanic" proves that everything related to it are valuable, as the door that saved Kate Winslet's Rose DeWitt-Bukater has been sold at a whopping USD 718,750 recently. The balsa wood door was introduced in the act three of the movie, when Leonardo DiCaprio's Jack lifted Kate Winslet's Rose onto the drifting piece of door in order to save her following the sinking of the Titanic.
Meanwhile, the chiffon dress worn by Rose during the film's final act sold for USD 125,000.
The door received the biggest bid, surpassing even another star of the Heritage Auctions' Treasures from Planet Hollywood event, which is the bullwhip from "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" (sold at USD 525,000) as well as Jack Nicholson's axe from "The Shining" (USD 125,000). Other items sold at the auction include the shaving cream can used by Wayne Knight to smuggle dinosaur embros from "Jurassic Park", Tobey Maguire's black symbiotic suit from "Spider-Man 3", and Bill Murray's red-rose bowling ball from "Kingpin".
