22 Jan - Following the critical success of "Abang Adik," actress-producer Angelica Lee and director Jin Ong are teaming up again as producers for "Dead Tide," a new project helmed by Kethsvin Chee of "Hello! Tapir" fame.

The project has been shortlisted for the prestigious Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) investment platform.

Chee revealed that he had a strong intuition about approaching Lee and Jin with his script. "After I finished the script, I had a hunch that they would definitely help me, so I didn't think too much and sent the script to them. Unexpectedly, they were very interested in the story, which led to this collaboration," he shared in an Oriental Daily interview.

Jin Ong expressed increased confidence in this new venture, noting that their experience with "Abang Adik" has provided valuable insights into the filmmaking process.

The film draws inspiration from a true story, following a former murderer who returns to his fishing village seeking redemption, only to become involved with a mentally ill woman confined to a room.

Regarding casting, both Jin and the director confirmed that while specific roles haven't been filled, the project will feature Malaysian talent, with the possibility of including actors from Taiwan or Hong Kong.
