30 Apr- Ajith Kumar was recently awarded the Padma Bushan, one of the highest civilian honours in India.

The actor was presented with the award on 28 April by President Droupadi Murmu at the Padma Awards event held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in attendance.

Ajith attended the event with wife Shalini and his two children.

Ajith previously penned a note of gratitude after being announced as one of the awardees back in January, saying, "I am deeply humbled and honoured to receive the esteemed Padma Award by the President of India.... It is a privilege to be recognised at such a level and I am truly grateful for this generous acknowledgment of my contributions to our nation."

He also thanked many people, including his family, his motor sports clubs, as well as his mother for her "unconditional love and sacrifices".

His racing team also took to Instagram and expressed, "With immense pride, the entire team at Venus Motorcycle Tours, Aspire World Tours, and Ajith Kumar Racing congratulates our CEO, Mr. Ajith Kumar, on receiving the prestigious Padma Award. We are excited to celebrate this moment with you and wish you many more milestones ahead."
