Malaysian cinema loses '80s icon Dharma Harun Al Rashid
26 Nov - Veteran actor and '80s heartthrob Dharma Harun Al Rashid has recently passed away.

The news was confirmed by son Muhammad Al Syafiq via social media on 25 November, saying that he found his dad already lifeless when he arrived home at 9.10pm.

"Please lend us your prayers for my father. He was a good dad," he added.

Speaking to the media, Syafiq said that he just arrived home from his class in Aswara when he found his dad, adding, "He fell. His whole body was already in rigor mortis."

The funeral was held at the Raudhatul Sakinah Cemetery in Batu Caves.

Dharma, who was also a singer, made his debut in acting with the 1980 film, "Adik Manja," which boosted him into stardom and won him a nomination for Best Actor at the 1st Malaysian Film Festival. He went on to star in many more films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including "Talak," "Kembara," and the Indonesian movie, "Lukisan Berlumur Darah".

His last performance was in the 2025 telefilm, "Ayah," co-starring Aniq Suhair and directed by Zul Huzaimy.

He was 68.
